Welcome to Mary Welty Elementary School, home of the Roadrunners, where our motto is “Doing Your Best Every Day!” We are located about an hour south of Tucson in the beautiful mountains of southern Arizona in Nogales, just north of the Mexico border. Our highly qualified teachers and caring staff work hand-in-hand with the supportive families in our surrounding community. We serve our kindergarten through fifth grade students with pride. A Message from  our Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year!

The faculty and staff at Mary L. Welty Elementary School are looking forward to seeing all of our Roadrunners! We are especially excited to welcome our new and incoming students. Our administration, faculty, and staff always strive to provide a positive and safe learning environment where your children will only have to focus on achieving their academic goals. As you read the packet provided, please note the following important dates for the month of August 2015:

  • Kinder Parent Night: Tuesday, August 4 at 6:00 p.m. Please meet in the cafeteria.
  • Meet Your Teacher Day: Wednesday, August 5 from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. 
  • First Day of Classes: Thursday, August 6 at 7:40 a.m. 

You will receive a monthly calendar with detailing important dates, and school events.

General Guidelines: 

  • All students are required to wear their school uniforms on the first day of school. 
  • Students are required to be on time! Student attendance is crucial to student achievement. Classes begin promptly at 7:45a.m. 
  • We continue to serve free breakfast and lunch. We serve breakfast in the cafeteria on Monday and Fridays from 7:00-7:30 a.m. We serve breakfast in the classroom on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7:30- 7:45a.m.
  • We expect all students to be respectful and follow all Nogales Unified School District and Mary L. Welty rules and procedures. 
  • We do not allow iPods, MP3 players, Game Boys, cell phones, iPads, or other electronic devices on campus. 
  • We do not allow fighting or bullying on campus. The NUSD #1 guideline will be followed including a report the law enforcement. We will provide a copy of the district’s Discipline Matrix to each student/parent. 
  • If your child is riding the bus, contact Citizens Auto Stage at (520) 281-0400 ext. 4138 for a schedule or questions. In order for your child to ride the bus, we will screen your address to determine if the child is eligible for transportation. Transportation by bus will only be provided to student’s whose home addresses are in the Mary L. Welty zone. Students under open enrollment are not eligible for bus service.

Estimados Padres/Tutores/ y Alumnos,

¡Bienvenidos al Nuevo año escolar del 2015-2016!
Nuestros maestros y personal están entusiasmados en ver a nuestros alumnos. Especialmente a nuestros alumnos nuevos y niños del kínder. Nuestra administración, maestros, y personal se esfuerzan para siempre proporcionar un ambiente de aprendizaje seguro y positivo donde sus hijos sólo tendrán que centrarse en el logro de sus metas académicas. Favor de repasar el paquete y notar fechas de importancia para del mes de Agosto 2015.

  • Noche de Padres Kinder:  Martes, 4 de agosto 2015 a las 6 p.m.  
  • ¡Conozca a su maestro!: Miércoles, 5 agosto 2015 de la 1 – 2:30 p.m.
  • ¡Primer día de Clases!: Jueves 6 de agosto 2015 a las 7:40 p.m – ¡Lleguen a tiempo!                    

Directrices Generales:

  • Alumnos están requeridos traer su uniforme escolar el primer día de clases. 
  • Alumnos necesitan asistir sus clases y llegar al tiempo todos los días. Clases empiezan a las 7:40 a.m. Por favor lleguen a tiempo.
  • Desayuno y almuerzo va seguir hacer gratis para nuestros alumnos. El desayuno se servirá en la cafetería los lunes y viernes de 7:00 a las 7:30 a.m. El desayuno en nuestros salones se servirá los martes, miércoles, y jueves de 7:30 a las 7:45 a.m. 
  • Alumnos están requeridos seguir las reglas del distrito así como las reglas y procedimientos de la escuela Mary Welty. 
  • No se permiten los celulares, audífonos, o juegos electrónicos como el Play Station. Si el alumno decide traer un dispositivo electrónico tiene que estar APAGADO y guardado. Si su hijo/a esta usado el dispositivo, será confiscado y devuelto solo as los papas o tutor.  
  • No se tolera pleitos o acosos en la escuela. Pleitos y/o acosos se reportaran a la ley y será documentado por un oficial de policía. Pleitos/acosos serán tratados siguiendo las direcciones de Distrito Escolar. Las copias del manejo disciplinario se proporcionara a cada padre/tutor. 
  • Si su hijo/a se transporta en el camión, seria transportado al domicilio demostrado en Power School. Alumnos de matrícula abierta NO son elegibles recibir servicios de transportación. Para información o preguntas, favor llamar a Citizen Auto Stage al (520) 281-0400 ext. 4128.
