Good morning NUSD Families--

As you may know, the CDC approved the Pfizer vaccine for children 12-15 years of age yesterday.  

Mariposa Community Health Center, in collaboration with the Santa Cruz County Health Department, will be offering the Pfizer vaccine tomorrow, Friday, May 14th at the Nogales Recreation Center.

Vaccinations will also be available at the following dates and times:

Monday, May 17th: 8 am-2 pm
Tuesday, May 18th: 8 am- 2 pm
Wednesday, May 19th: 8 am-2 pm
Friday, May 21st: 8 am-12 pm

If you would like to schedule a COVID vaccine for your child age twelve through fifteen, please follow the link below to register for an appointment.

More information regarding this vaccine can be found on the Santa Cruz County Health Department website or by calling the COVID-19 hotline at (520) 375-7626 Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Buenos días familias de NUSD--

Como sabrá, ayer la CDC aprobó la vacuna Pfizer para niños de 12 a 15 años. 

El Centro de Salud Comunitario Mariposa, en colaboración con el Departamento de Salud del Condado de Santa Cruz, ofrecerá la vacuna Pfizer mañana, viernes 14 de mayo en el Centro Recreativo de Nogales.

Las vacunas también estarán disponibles en las siguientes fechas y horarios:

Lunes 17 de mayo: de 8:00 a 14:00
Martes 18 de mayo: 8 a.m. a 2 p.m.
Miércoles 19 de mayo: de 8:00 a 14:00
Viernes 21 de mayo: de 8 a.m. a 12 p.m.

Si desea programar una vacuna COVID para su hijo de doce a quince años, siga el enlace a continuación para registrarse para una cita.

Hello Mary L. Welty Families,

As a reminder, we return from our Spring Break on Monday, March 15, 2021. If your students are hybrid, please have them report to school on the assigned days. If hybrid students do not report on their assigned days, the students will be marked absent.

Hybrid students must come to school with the following:
* School uniforms
* Facial Masks
* School issued computers with chargers.

For students remaining remote, please be sure to log in on time. All classes will remain as before and will begin at 7:45am.

Como recordatorio, regresamos de nuestras vacaciones de primavera el lunes 15 de marzo de 2021. Si sus estudiantes son híbridos, les pedimos que se presenten a la escuela en los días asignados. Si los estudiantes híbridos no se reportan en sus días asignados, los estudiantes serán marcados ausentes.

Los estudiantes híbridos deben venir a la escuela con lo siguiente:
* Uniformes escolares
* Mascarillas faciales
* Computadoras provistas por la escuela con cargadores.

Para los estudiantes que permanecen remotos, asegúrese de iniciar sesión a tiempo. Todas las clases permanecerán como hasta ahora y empiezan a las 7:45am.

Welcome to Mary L. Welty Elementary School, home of the Roadrunners, where our motto is “Doing Your Best Every Day!” We are located about an hour south of Tucson in the beautiful mountains of southern Arizona in Nogales, just north of the Mexico border. Our highly qualified teachers and caring staff work hand-in-hand with the supportive families in our surrounding community. We serve our kindergarten through fifth-grade students with pride. Mary L. Welty Reminders:

  • All students are required to wear their school uniforms. Please contact Mrs. Bonillas if you need assistance with uniforms. 


  • Breakfast and lunch will continue to be served for free. Breakfast will be served in the classroom EVERY day of the week from 7:30 am – 7:45 am. 


  • Students are required to be ON TIME! Student attendance is MUST in reaching our academic goals. Classes begin promptly at 7:45 a.m. after breakfast in the classroom ends.  


  • Please speak to your children about being respectful and kind. 


  • No Cell Phones, Air pods, Nintendo Switch, iPad, or other electronic devices are allowed on campus. The electronics are to be off and in your backpacks. We are not responsible for lost items. The items will be confiscated if being used during school hours. A parent must pick up from the principal’s office if the item is taken away. 


  • Fighting or bullying are NOT allowed on campus or on the school bus. The NUSD #1 guideline will be followed including a report the law enforcement. 


  • Your child will receive homework daily. Mary L. Welty is dedicated to having our students achieve academically and homework to practice is an extension of the student’s learning.  


  • If your child is riding the bus, contact Citizen’s Auto Stage at (520) 281-0400 ext. 4138 for a schedule or questions. For your child to ride the bus, your address will be screened to determine if the child is eligible for transportation. Transportation by bus will ONLY be provided to student’s whose home addresses are in the Mary L. Welty zone. Students under OPEN ENROLLMENT are NOT eligible for bus service.
